# Readwise Reader - How do I link my account?
# Overview
To authenticate with Readwise Reader, you will need:
1. **Access Token** - A key that grants secure access to the API, enabling authorized applications to interact with Readwise Reader resources and services.
This guide will walk you through generating your **Access Token** within Readwise.
### Prerequisites:
* You must have an account with Readwise.
### Instructions:
#### Step 1: Generating Your Access Token
1. Sign in to your Readwise account.
2. Navigate to the [Access Token](https://readwise.io/access_token) page.
3. Click on the **Get Access Token** button.
4. Your **Access Token** will be generated.
#### Step 2: Enter credentials in the Connect UI
Once you have your **Access Token**:
1. Open the form where you need to authenticate with Readwise Reader.
2. Enter your **Access Token** in its respective field.
3. Submit the form, and you should be successfully authenticated.
You are now connected to Readwise Reader.
