# Telnyx - How do I link my account?

## Overview

To authenticate with Telnyx, you need:

1. **Region** — the Telnyx regional API host to send requests to.
2. **API Key** — a Telnyx API key.

This guide will show you how to get them.

### Prerequisites

* A Telnyx account. You can sign up at [telnyx.com/sign-up](https://telnyx.com/sign-up). New accounts come with free testing credits.

### Step 1: Choose your region

Regional endpoints work with the same API key, so pick the one you want your requests to go through. If you are not sure, choose `api.telnyx.com`.

| Region | Location | Value to select |
| - | - | - |
| North America | United States (Ashburn, Chicago, San Jose) | `api.telnyx.com` |
| Europe | Frankfurt, Germany | `api.telnyx.eu` |
| APAC | Sydney, Australia | `api.telnyx.com.au` |
| Canada | Toronto | `api.telnyx.ca` |
| Middle East | Dubai, UAE | `api.telnyx.me` |

See [Regional endpoints](https://developers.telnyx.com/docs/account-setup/regional-endpoints) for details.

### Step 2: Create an API key

1. Sign in to the [Telnyx Mission Control Portal](https://portal.telnyx.com) and open **Account settings** → **API Keys**. Click **Create API Key**.

2. Under **Tags**, add a descriptive label for the key. Under expiration, choose **No Expiration** or **Set Expiration Date**, then click **Create**.

3. In the **API Key Created** dialog, copy the key right away. It is shown only once.

### Step 3: Enter your credentials in the Connect UI

1. Open the form where you need to authenticate with Telnyx.
2. Select your **Region** and enter your **API Key** in the designated fields.
3. Submit the form, and you should be successfully authenticated.

You are now connected to Telnyx.
