# SMTP2GO - How do I link my account?

## Overview

To authenticate with SMTP2GO, you need:

1. **Region** — the SMTP2GO API host to connect to.
2. **API Key** — an SMTP2GO API key.

This guide will show you how to get them.

### Prerequisites

* An SMTP2GO account. You can [start a free account](https://www.smtp2go.com/pricing/).

### Step 1: Choose your region

SMTP2GO has a global API host and one host per region:

| Region | Value to select |
| - | - |
| Global | `api.smtp2go.com` |
| US (United States) | `us-api.smtp2go.com` |
| EU (European Union) | `eu-api.smtp2go.com` |
| AU (Oceania) | `au-api.smtp2go.com` |

The **API Keys** page of the SMTP2GO app shows your **API Base URL** under **Connection information**. SMTP2GO recommends a region-specific host where possible, to connect to the region closest to you. See [Endpoints](https://developers.smtp2go.com/docs/endpoints) for details.

### Step 2: Create an API key

1. Log in to the [SMTP2GO app](https://app.smtp2go.com).
2. In the left-side menu, go to **Sending** > **API Keys**, then click **Add API Key**.

3. On the **Details** tab, copy the generated API key (it starts with `api-`) and enter a description.

4. On the **Permissions** tab, select the endpoints your integration needs, then click **Add API Key** to save the key.

### Step 3: Enter your credentials in the Connect UI

1. Open the form where you need to authenticate with SMTP2GO.
2. Select your **Region** and enter your **API Key** in the designated fields.
3. Submit the form, and you should be successfully authenticated.

You are now connected to SMTP2GO.
