# Rapid7

> Integrate your application with the Rapid7 API

## 🚀 Quickstart

Connect to Rapid7 with Nango and see data flow in 2 minutes.

<Steps>
  <Step id="create-integration" title="Create the integration">
    In Nango ([free signup](https://app.nango.dev)), go to **Integrations** -> *Configure New Integration* -> *Rapid7*.
  </Step>

  <Step id="authorize-rapid7" title="Authorize Rapid7">
    Go to **Connections** -> *Add Test Connection* -> *Authorize*, then select your region and enter your API key. Later, you'll let your users do the same directly from your app.
  </Step>

  <Step id="call-rapid7-api" title="Call the Rapid7 API">
    Let's make your first request to the Rapid7 API to validate your API key. Replace the placeholders below with your [Environment API key](/docs/reference/backend/http-api/api-keys), integration ID, and connection ID:

    <Tabs>
      <Tab title="cURL">
        ```bash theme={null}
        curl "https://api.nango.dev/proxy/validate" \
          -H "Authorization: Bearer <NANGO-API-KEY>" \
          -H "Provider-Config-Key: <INTEGRATION-ID>" \
          -H "Connection-Id: <CONNECTION-ID>"
        ```
      </Tab>

      <Tab title="Node">
        Install Nango's backend SDK with `npm i @nangohq/node`. Then run:

        ```typescript theme={null}
        import { Nango } from '@nangohq/node';
        const nango = new Nango({ apiKey: '<NANGO-API-KEY>' });
        const res = await nango.get({
            endpoint: '/validate',
            providerConfigKey: '<INTEGRATION-ID>',
            connectionId: '<CONNECTION-ID>'
        });
        console.log(res.data);
        ```
      </Tab>
    </Tabs>

    Or fetch credentials with the [Node SDK](/docs/reference/backend/backend-sdk/node#get-a-connection-with-credentials) or [API](/docs/reference/backend/http-api/connections/get).

    ✅ You're connected! Check the **Logs** tab in Nango to inspect requests.
  </Step>

  <Step id="implement-in-app" title="Implement Nango in your app">
    Follow our [quickstart](/docs/getting-started/quickstart) to integrate Nango in your app.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## 📚 Rapid7 integration guides

* [How do I link my account?](/docs/api-integrations/rapid7/connect)\
  Find your region and generate an API key to connect your Rapid7 account.

Official docs: [Rapid7 Command Platform API](https://docs.rapid7.com/insight/api-overview/)

## 🧩 Pre-built syncs & actions for Rapid7

Enable them in your dashboard. Extend and customize to fit your needs.

*No pre-built syncs or actions available yet.*

<Tip>Not seeing the integration you need? [Build your own](/docs/guides/functions/functions-guide) independently.</Tip>

## API gotchas

* Nango sends requests to `https://<region>.api.insight.rapid7.com`. Each product API has its own path under that host, for example `/idr/v1/investigations` for InsightIDR. See the [product API list](https://docs.rapid7.com/insight/product-apis/).
* A user key has the same permissions as the user who created it. An organization key can access every product in the organization.
