# Honeybadger

> Integrate your application with the Honeybadger API

## 🚀 Quickstart

Connect to Honeybadger with Nango and see data flow in 2 minutes.

**1. Create the integration**

In Nango ([free signup](https://app.nango.dev)), go to **Integrations** -> *Configure New Integration* -> *Honeybadger*.

**2. Authorize Honeybadger**

Go to **Connections** -> *Add Test Connection* -> *Authorize*, then pick your Honeybadger region and enter your personal auth token. Later, you'll let your users do the same directly from your app.

**3. Call the Honeybadger API**

Let's make your first request to the Honeybadger API to list your projects. Replace the placeholders below with your [Environment API key](https://nango.dev/docs/reference/backend/http-api/api-keys.md), integration ID, and connection ID:

> [tab] cURL
>
> ```bash theme={null}
> curl "https://api.nango.dev/proxy/v2/projects" \
>   -H "Authorization: Bearer <NANGO-API-KEY>" \
>   -H "Provider-Config-Key: <INTEGRATION-ID>" \
>   -H "Connection-Id: <CONNECTION-ID>"
> ```

> [tab] Node
>
> Install Nango's backend SDK with `npm i @nangohq/node`. Then run:
>
> ```typescript theme={null}
> import { Nango } from '@nangohq/node';
>
> const nango = new Nango({ apiKey: '<NANGO-API-KEY>' });
>
> const res = await nango.get({
>     endpoint: '/v2/projects',
>     providerConfigKey: '<INTEGRATION-ID>',
>     connectionId: '<CONNECTION-ID>'
> });
>
> console.log(res.data);
> ```

Or fetch credentials with the [Node SDK](https://nango.dev/docs/reference/backend/backend-sdk/node.md#get-a-connection-with-credentials) or [API](https://nango.dev/docs/reference/backend/http-api/connections/get.md).

✅ You're connected! Check the **Logs** tab in Nango to inspect requests.

**4. Implement Nango in your app**

Follow our [quickstart](https://nango.dev/docs/getting-started/quickstart.md) to integrate Nango in your app.

  Find your region, copy your personal auth token and connect it in the Connect UI.

## 🧩 Pre-built syncs & actions for Honeybadger

Enable them in your dashboard. Extend and customize to fit your needs.

## API gotchas

* Call only API v2 endpoints (`/v2/...`) with this connection: the v2 personal auth token does not work with API v3 (`/v3/...`), which refuses HTTP Basic with `401 unsupported_auth_scheme` and needs a Bearer user or account API token. See [Authentication](https://docs.honeybadger.io/api/v3/authentication/).
* Set the `region` connection config field to the host the account signs in to: `app.honeybadger.io` for the US region, `eu-app.honeybadger.io` for the EU region. EU accounts are separate accounts from US ones. See [Data residency](https://docs.honeybadger.io/resources/data-residency/).
* Check `X-RateLimit-Remaining` when a call answers `403`: after 360 requests per hour, the API answers `403` (Forbidden) instead of `429`, the same status it uses for a permissions problem. `X-RateLimit-Reset` is the Unix timestamp in seconds when the counter resets. See [Data API](https://docs.honeybadger.io/api/getting-started/).
* Read the error reason from the `errors` field: failed calls answer `{ "errors": "Reason for error" }`, with `403` for a permissions problem and `422` for an invalid request. See [Data API](https://docs.honeybadger.io/api/getting-started/).
* Do not parse a body from a successful `PUT`: updates answer `204` with no response body, while `POST` creations answer `201` with the created resource. See [Data API](https://docs.honeybadger.io/api/getting-started/).
