# How to register your own Hive OAuth app

> Get your Hive API partner credentials and connect them to Nango

This guide shows you how to get the OAuth credentials (client ID & secret) for your Hive API partner account. These are required to let Hive brands grant your app access to their data.

**1. Become a Hive API partner**

Contact your Hive representative to become an API partner. You'll receive a welcome email once your [Partner Portal](https://developers.hive.co/docs/partner-portal) access is set up.

**2. Get your client ID and secret**

In the Partner Portal, copy your **Client ID** under **API Credentials**, then click **Generate new secret** and copy the **Client Secret**.

**3. Add Nango's redirect URI**

Under **Redirect URIs**, add `https://api.nango.dev/oauth/callback` (or your own [custom callback URL](https://nango.dev/docs/guides/auth/auth-guide.md#custom-oauth-callback-url-optional)). Hive only accepts registered callback URLs.

**4. Add the credentials in Nango**

In your Hive integration in Nango, paste the client ID and secret, then add the scopes you need (for example `contacts:read contacts:write segments:read segments:write`). Hive issues tokens with no API access when no scopes are requested, and recommends requesting all of them: `events:read`, `events:write`, `orders:read`, `orders:write`, `contacts:read`, `contacts:write`, `segments:read`, `segments:write` and `campaigns:read`. Nango sends your client ID in the `X-Partner-Id` header that every Hive API request needs.

**5. Next**

Follow the [*Quickstart*](https://nango.dev/docs/getting-started/quickstart.md).

> [!NOTE]
>
> Each Hive connection is scoped to one brand, chosen on Hive's consent screen. To connect several brands, create one connection per brand.
