# ConvertAPI - How do I link my account?

## Overview

To authenticate with ConvertAPI, you need:

1. **Region** — the ConvertAPI server location your requests go to.
2. **API Token** — a ConvertAPI API Token. A JWT token or the Master Token also works.

This guide will show you how to get them.

### Prerequisites

* A ConvertAPI account. You can [sign up](https://www.convertapi.com/a/signup) for a free trial with 250 conversions and no credit card.

### Step 1: Choose your region

ConvertAPI serves its API from these hosts:

| Location | Host |
| - | - |
| World Wide (default, routes to the nearest data center) | `v2.convertapi.com` |
| Europe EU – Amsterdam / Frankfurt | `eu-v2.convertapi.com` |
| Europe – London, UK | `uk-v2.convertapi.com` |
| US East – Washington DC / US West – San Jose | `us-v2.convertapi.com` |
| North America – Toronto | `ca-v2.convertapi.com` |
| Southeast Asia – Singapore | `as-v2.convertapi.com` |
| East Asia – Tokyo | `jp-v2.convertapi.com` |
| Oceania – Sydney | `au-v2.convertapi.com` |

Pick `v2.convertapi.com` unless your files must be processed in a specific location. See [ConvertAPI Server Locations and Regional Endpoints](https://www.convertapi.com/docs/servers-location).

### Step 2: Create an API token

1. Sign in to the [ConvertAPI dashboard](https://www.convertapi.com/a/signin).
2. In the left sidebar, open **Integration** → **Authentication**.
3. Click **Create New Token**, enter a **Title**, and click **Generate API Token**. Leave **Usage Limit** and **Expiration Date** empty for an unlimited token that never expires.

4. Your new token appears in the **Your API Tokens** list. Click its copy icon to copy the API Token.

**Use a JWT token instead (optional).** In the **Your API Tokens** list, click **JWT** next to your token, set a **Lifetime in seconds** (and optionally an IP address), and click **Generate JWT Token**. Copy the JWT shown below the form. A JWT token expires after its lifetime, so the connection stops working when it does.

**Use the Master Token instead (optional).** Owners and Administrators can click **Manage Master Token** on the **API Authentication** page and copy the Master Token with the copy icon. ConvertAPI uses it for administrative endpoints, such as user information and statistics.

### Step 3: Enter your credentials in the Connect UI

1. Open the form where you need to authenticate with ConvertAPI.
2. Select your **Region** and enter your **API Token** in the designated fields.
3. Submit the form, and you should be successfully authenticated.

You are now connected to ConvertAPI.
