# Buildkite (Token Exchange)

> Integrate your application with the Buildkite API using OAuth token exchange

## 🚀 Quickstart

Connect to Buildkite with Nango using OAuth token exchange and see data flow in 2 minutes. Nango signs a JWT with your app's private key and exchanges it for a short-lived API token that acts as a user in your Buildkite organization. No interactive login is needed.

> [!NOTE]
>
> Buildkite token exchange is only available on Buildkite's Enterprise plan. To connect with a personal API access token instead, use the [Buildkite](https://nango.dev/docs/api-integrations/buildkite.md) integration.

**1. Create the integration**

In Nango ([free signup](https://app.nango.dev)), go to **Integrations** -> *Configure New Integration* -> *Buildkite (Token Exchange)*. Enter your Token Exchange App's client ID, key ID, private key, and signing algorithm. Follow the setup guide linked below to create them.

**2. Authorize Buildkite**

Go to **Connections** -> *Add Test Connection* -> *Authorize*, then enter your organization slug and the email of the Buildkite user the token should act as. Later, you'll let your users do the same directly from your app.

**3. Call the Buildkite API**

Let's make your first request to the Buildkite API to list pipelines. This requires the `read_pipelines` scope. Replace the placeholders below with your [Environment API key](https://nango.dev/docs/reference/backend/http-api/api-keys.md), integration ID, connection ID, and organization slug:

**cURL**

```bash theme={null}
curl "https://api.nango.dev/proxy/v2/organizations/<ORG-SLUG>/pipelines" \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer <NANGO-API-KEY>" \
  -H "Provider-Config-Key: <INTEGRATION-ID>" \
  -H "Connection-Id: <CONNECTION-ID>"
```

**Node**

Install Nango's backend SDK with `npm i @nangohq/node`. Then run:

```typescript theme={null}
import { Nango } from '@nangohq/node';
const nango = new Nango({ apiKey: '<NANGO-API-KEY>' });
const res = await nango.get({
    endpoint: '/v2/organizations/<ORG-SLUG>/pipelines',
    providerConfigKey: '<INTEGRATION-ID>',
    connectionId: '<CONNECTION-ID>'
});
console.log(res.data);
```

Tokens last one hour by default, or up to your app's maximum token TTL. Nango exchanges a new one before the current token expires.

Or fetch credentials with the [Node SDK](https://nango.dev/docs/reference/backend/backend-sdk/node.md#get-a-connection-with-credentials) or [API](https://nango.dev/docs/reference/backend/http-api/connections/get.md).

✅ You're connected! Check the **Logs** tab in Nango to inspect requests.

**4. Implement Nango in your app**

Follow our [quickstart](https://nango.dev/docs/getting-started/quickstart.md) to integrate Nango in your app.
