# BetterContact - How do I link my account?

# Overview

To authenticate with BetterContact, you need:

1. **API Key** - A key that grants secure access to the BetterContact API, enabling authorized applications to interact with BetterContact resources and services.

This guide will walk you through generating your **API Key** within BetterContact.

### Prerequisites:

* You must have a BetterContact account

### Instructions:

#### Step 1: Generating Your API Key

1. Log in to your BetterContact account and navigate to the [API Cockpit](https://app.bettercontact.rocks/api_requests) page.

2. Click the **+ Set up API** button.
3. Your **API Key** will be displayed. Copy it to a secure location.

#### Step 2: Enter credentials in the Connect UI

Once you have your **API Key**:

1. Open the form where you need to authenticate with BetterContact.
2. Enter your **API Key** in the designated field.
3. Submit the form, and you should be successfully authenticated.
