# APIVerve - How do I link my account?

## Overview

To authenticate with APIVerve, you need:

1. **API Key** — your APIVerve primary key or a scoped sub-key.

This guide will show you how to get it.

### Prerequisites

* An APIVerve account. You can [sign up for free](https://dashboard.apiverve.com/signup) without a credit card; your primary key is created with the account.

### Step 1: Copy your API key

1. Log in to the [APIVerve dashboard](https://dashboard.apiverve.com) and click **API keys** under **Build** in the left sidebar.
2. Your **Primary key** is already there. Click **Reveal key** to show it.

3. Click **Copy key** to copy the key.

To use a narrower key instead, create a scoped sub-key under **Sub-keys** on the same page and copy it. Sub-keys start with `apv_sbk` and are only available on plans that include them.

### Step 2: Enter your API key in the Connect UI

1. Open the form where you need to authenticate with APIVerve.
2. Enter your **API Key** in the designated field.
3. Submit the form, and you should be successfully authenticated.
